This past June, I had the opportunity to participate in Ottawa’s largest block party as one of the Muralists in the Art Chaos Block.
Each artists was given a 8x8ft plywood wall with the freedom to paint whatever we wanted, in the style of our choice. We would be live painting throughout the duration of the bank street festival.
The first day of Glowfair was June 14th. I woke up with morning inspiration after the Raptors NBA Championship win that fuelled my concept idea. Using acrylic paints that I bought from home depot, I painted my design under clear skies the first night. I got a lot of positive comments and show of enthusiasm towards the topical mural, I had a lot of people taking pictures in front of it.
Unfortunately the rain did not hold out for the second day of the festival.
Any new paint I splattered on was being diluted by the wet sky, thankfully I had a lot of community members and fellow artists to keep me company while we waited patiently for the rain to slow down and eventually stop.
